As many countries despite positive growth rates cannot create adequate jobs to integrate all young people into the economy, youth entrepreneurship has emerged as alternative, as it integrates unemployed youth into the labor market and tackles poverty through the creation of jobs and stimulation of local while also providing a powerful tool to overcome the psychological impacts of long-term unemployment including low- self-esteem, diminished levels of wellbeing and isolation from peers. Therefore generating employment for young people not only provides them with a livelihood and fosters civic responsibility and social justice, but can also prevent bad decision resulting in social evils on their communities.

Youth in Assam is characterized by 2 problems to entrepreneurship:

  1. Many young people, even while suffering from unemployment, do not consider entrepreneurship as a desired career option as it has a negative image in their society or because society provides a negative image of entrepreneurs. In addition to the negative image young people entrepreneurial lack of role models, young entrepreneurs of similar background and from their country who have succeeded and therefore could inspire young people to follow them suit.
  2. Young entrepreneurs in Assam face various challenges due to their age. As youth entrepreneurship has an often negative image, these entrepreneurs lack supporting mechanism including networks, training and mentoring to take their business to the next level.
